[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Changwoo Lee) introduces ‘2021. Changing District Administration,’ which provides information closely related to residents' lives and useful information.
‘2021. Changing District Administration’ includes 29 projects across 8 fields?▲Economy & Taxation ▲Welfare ▲Environment ▲Women ▲Childcare & Education ▲Safety ▲Health ▲Administration & Others?that are newly implemented this year or changed from last year. These are introduced in the ‘2021 Dongjak Major Work Plan’ booklet and on the district website.
Key points start with the economy and taxation sector, where the Dongjak-gu living wage applied to workers of investment and foundation institutions under the district changes to an hourly wage of 10,702 KRW.
This is 123% of this year’s minimum wage (8,720 KRW), which converts to a monthly salary of 2,236,718 KRW based on 209 working hours per month.
Also, Dongjak Love Gift Certificates worth 30 billion KRW will be issued and can be used at 8,324 Zero Pay affiliated stores including traditional markets, academies, and restaurants. However, usage is restricted at entrance exam academies with annual sales exceeding 1 billion KRW, and direct franchise stores of large and medium-sized enterprises.
In the welfare sector, policies to improve residents’ quality of life are broadly applied, such as easing the support obligation criteria of the Seoul-type Basic Security System, expanding basic pension payments, and creating an open-type senior center in Sangdo 4-dong.
Especially, in the second half of this year, the Care SOS Center will expand from district-level care to neighborhood-level care. Dedicated care managers will be assigned to neighborhood community centers to provide customized services such as meal support, accompaniment support, and health support to residents in need of care.
In the environment sector, a smart waste discharge and collection management system will be introduced starting March. Using a smartphone app, residents can easily discharge and collect large waste and pay fees, while receiving real-time processing results.
Additionally, AI recycling automatic sorting and collection machines called ‘Nephron’ will be installed and pilot-operated with one unit each in Noryangjin 2-dong and Sangdo 3 and 4-dong.
In education, the Heukseok-dong Complex Library, a resident cultural community space, will open in November, and an underground bunker in Noryangjin Neighborhood Park will be created as a youth creative innovation experience space in December.
Also, the 300,000 KRW entrance preparation fund for middle and high school students will be provided as Zero Pay mobile gift certificates.
Furthermore, differentiated childcare services will be provided through childcare projects such as expanding two Moms Heart Cafe co-parenting spaces, opening six national and public daycare centers, conducting child development tests for daycare children, and reducing the teacher-to-child ratio.
Detailed information on the 2021 changing systems can be found on the district office website under ‘Administrative Information - District Administration - Major Work Plan’ bulletin board and on blogs and other SNS.
