High School Ice Hockey Coach Accused Again of Assault with Hockey Stick
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] It has been confirmed that the coach of a high school ice hockey team in Seoul, who is under investigation for assaulting players, was accused last month of another assault charge.
According to the police on the 10th, on the 19th of last month, a complaint was filed at the Songpa Police Station in Seoul alleging that Coach A assaulted students belonging to the ice hockey team. The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Violent Crime Investigation Unit has taken over the case and is conducting an investigation. This case is separate from the one in which Coach A was investigated for assaulting high school players in February of last year and was cleared of charges.
With the new complaint against Coach A, the Violent Crime Investigation Unit is now handling investigations for both cases.
Previously, the school requested an investigation into Coach A in February last year on suspicion of assaulting students with hockey sticks around 2019, but the Songpa Police Station dismissed the charges.

At that time, the police considered statements including that "some senior students requested to be hit to create an assault scene as part of team atmosphere renewal," and in March last year, the case was sent to the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office with a recommendation for non-prosecution, and the prosecution also decided not to indict.
