[IssueLaw] Lawyer's Guide to Resolving Noise Between Floors, Avoid Doing 'This'
[Asia Economy PD Yoon Jin-geun] Recently, conflicts between neighbors over noise complaints have been intensifying. On the 8th, an incident occurred in Seo-gu, Gwangju, where an upper-floor resident broke the front door of a lower-floor unit with a camping hatchet, citing severe noise issues. Comedian couple Lee Hwijae and Ansangtae couple were also pointed out as noise offenders, sparking controversy online.
Meanwhile, there is a legal opinion that taking legal action against noisy neighbors is practically ineffective. In the 'Lee Park Choi Legal Center' video released on the Asia Economy YouTube channel, lawyer Lee Ki-yoon suggested ways to resolve noise conflicts.
Lawyer Lee advised that filing complaints or lawsuits in noise conflict situations may actually be disadvantageous, as the benefits during the legal process are minimal. He then proposed practical solutions that could be more helpful.
He also addressed so-called 'noise revenge methods' commonly circulated online and examined the overall issue of noise conflicts. Regarding everyday conflicts such as noise disputes, lawyer Lee emphasized, “While consulting a lawyer to overcome the issue is important, nothing is better than amicable agreements and mediation,” urging wise handling of the situation.
