Hyundai Oilbank Draws Attention with Free Disinfection Service for Gas Station Customers' Vehicles
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Hyundai Oilbank, a subsidiary of Hyundai Heavy Industries Group, announced that it will provide free vehicle interior disinfection services for fueling customers as part of its campaign to overcome COVID-19.
Hyundai Oilbank will pilot the disinfection service at one of 28 directly operated gas stations in the Seoul metropolitan area each day for about two months until April 9. The service dates for each gas station can be checked on the Hyundai Oilbank Bonus Card website. After the pilot operation ends, customer satisfaction surveys will be conducted, and the service is planned to be expanded to privately operated gas stations in the future.
Three disinfection teams will provide the service at gas stations from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Before fueling begins, a disinfection staff member holding a sign will explain the service, and customers who agree will briefly step out of their vehicles to start the disinfection service. The sterilization and disinfection process of the vehicle interior, including seats, steering wheel, gear, and air filter, is completed within 2 minutes.
The disinfectant products used by Hyundai Oilbank are approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and are known to be highly effective in preventing not only the coronavirus but also 142 types of viruses including avian influenza and African swine fever.
