Seoul Jung-gu Implements Comprehensive Measures for Quarantine and Public Safety During Lunar New Year Holiday
Establishment of Emergency Medical System Including Normal Operation of Emergency Rooms and Screening Clinics... Thorough Quarantine by COVID-19 Priority Management Facilities... Minimizing Residents' Inconvenience Such as Waste Issues and Providing Tailored Support for Vulnerable Groups
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Jung-gu, Seoul (Mayor Seoyangho) is implementing a 'Comprehensive Plan for the Lunar New Year Holiday' to ensure a safe and comfortable holiday.
This plan will be maintained from the 8th to the 15th, including the Lunar New Year holiday, and will operate across 13 areas such as ▲emergency medical system maintenance ▲COVID-19 infectious disease response ▲handling of civil complaints ▲response to safety accidents ▲support for vulnerable groups, aiming to minimize inconvenience to residents.
An emergency medical system will be established to prepare for emergency patients and minimize medical service gaps.
During the holiday period, the emergency rooms of the National Medical Center and Inje University Seoul Paik Hospital will operate normally, and 45 local hospitals, clinics, and holiday-duty pharmacies will be open.
Since operating hours vary by hospital and pharmacy, residents are advised to check the Jung-gu Public Health Center website in advance or contact the 24-hour health center medical information desk before visiting.
COVID-19 screening clinics will also remain open. The Jung-gu Public Health Center screening clinic operates from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the Seoul Station temporary screening clinic operates from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with emergency staff deployed for COVID-19 diagnostic testing. Anyone can get tested regardless of symptoms.
Additionally, monitoring of COVID-19 self-quarantined individuals and operation of residential treatment centers for asymptomatic and mild confirmed cases will continue without interruption.
Pre-inspections for disinfection at key management facilities will also be conducted. Self-disinfection will be carried out at 66 traditional markets and large stores and 71 social welfare facilities, with special inspections to ensure compliance with disinfection guidelines. On-site guidance and inspections of restaurants and entertainment establishments will be conducted regularly, jointly carried out by the Jung-gu Public Health Center and Namdaemun and Jungbu Police Stations.
To minimize inconvenience caused by waste issues, a cleaning situation room will be operated. It will patrol densely populated areas such as Myeongdong and Dongdaemun and areas vulnerable to cleaning issues, handling cleaning complaints.
The prohibited period for waste disposal during the Lunar New Year holiday is from the 11th to the 13th. Inquiries about waste collection and inconvenience reports can be made to the cleaning situation room.
Customized support for marginalized groups will not be overlooked. A Lunar New Year donation sharing campaign will be conducted through the Food Bank, delivering donated items to neighbors in need within the community, such as elderly living alone, people with disabilities, and multicultural families.
Also, during the holiday period, vulnerable elderly residents will be contacted by phone or visited to check on their well-being, and lunch boxes and side dishes for the holiday will be delivered in advance. Protection activities for residents of jjokbangchon (small-room villages) will be strengthened, and the jjokbang counseling center will operate 24 hours to help prevent accidents.
