Jeonnam Province Holds First Amazon Export Shipment Ceremony This Year... Worth $246,000
On Track to Achieve $5 Million Goal
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province announced on the 9th that it held the first export shipment ceremony to achieve this year's Amazon export target of 5 million dollars.
Currently, the Amazon Jeonnam Brand Hall hosts 27 companies with 63 products. At this shipment ceremony, 14 companies with 23 products worth approximately 246,000 dollars were shipped.
In particular, processed abalone and organic gim products, which were first listed last month and are rapidly increasing in sales, were exported at 26,000 dollars and 30,000 dollars respectively.
Since July last year, the province has selected seven star items among locally competitive agricultural and marine products and developed 12 products tailored to the tastes and sensibilities of Americans, which have been selling well since early January.
Among them, the organic lunchbox gim from Hyungje Susan in Sinan County has become an Amazon bestseller within three weeks of listing, gaining great popularity.
The seven star items listed on Amazon are ▲ Araum Co., Ltd. dried seafood snacks from Yeosu City ▲ Maeil Food Co., Ltd. sauces from Suncheon City ▲ Daap Maeryul Agricultural Cooperative’s plum syrup from Gwangyang City ▲ Eden Food Agricultural Cooperative’s organic citron drink from Goheung County ▲ Haenam Sweet Potato Food Co., Ltd.’s dried sweet potato from Haenam County ▲ JS Korea Co., Ltd.’s processed abalone from Wando County ▲ Hyungje Susan Fisheries Cooperative Corporation’s organic gim from Sinan County.
In the case of abalone, Jeonnam accounts for 98.4% of domestic production and is recognized as a premium product overseas in China and Southeast Asia, but most are distributed as live abalone, making online sales in the U.S. difficult until now.
JS Korea Co., Ltd.’s boiled abalone product for export is canned to allow room temperature distribution and can be easily cooked without preparation, receiving high praise from U.S. consumers.
In fact, an Amazon customer who purchased JS Korea’s boiled abalone left a review saying, “It’s very fresh, and I can enjoy Korean abalone with guaranteed taste and quality in a neat and convenient way, which is great.”
Lee Sangjin, Jeollanam-do International Cooperation Officer, said, “With a goal of 5 million dollars in online exports this year, we plan to add more than 50 listed products and newly open Jeonnam Brand Halls on Amazon in three countries including Canada and the UK. We will actively promote marketing to increase brand hall awareness and competitiveness so that Jeonnam agricultural and marine products can be spotlighted by locals.”
