O Shin-hwan "Na Kyung-won's Pledge, Absurd at First Glance and Strange Upon Closer Look"
It is hard to accept giving interest payments to those receiving half-price apartments
Unlike the initial pledge, support for families with children is missing besides youth and newlyweds, which is strange
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Oh Shin-hwan, a former lawmaker who challenged the People Power Party's Seoul mayoral primary, criticized former lawmaker Na Kyung-won’s pledge on the 8th, saying, "At first glance, it sounds absurd, and upon closer inspection, there are strange parts."
On the same day, Oh appeared on MBC Radio's 'Kim Jong-bae's Focus' and explained why he referred to Na as 'Na Kyung-young,' likening her to Heo Kyung-young, the leader of the National Revolutionary Party.
He introduced, "(Na’s pledge) is about giving a total subsidy of 117 million won to youth and newlywed families with children, but when this became controversial, she rebutted by saying that if she becomes mayor, she would support the interest for those moving into 10,000 half-price apartments to be supplied." He added, "That explanation is also hard to understand because moving into a half-price apartment itself is already a benefit."
Oh criticized, "I don’t quite understand why they would support interest again for these people. It would be more appropriate to provide support to those in more difficult circumstances." He pointed out that half-price apartments are already a benefit, so supporting interest on top of that is hard to accept.
Later, Oh also expressed skepticism about Na’s side revealing the financial requirements and their explanation. Oh said, "Unlike the initial announcement, the second rebuttal explained that interest would be supported for youth with 27 million won and for newlyweds with 45 million won over three years, but the part about supporting 45 million won for families with children mentioned in the first announcement is missing." He added, "This means the 117 million won figure does not add up."

Oh also criticized candidates’ real estate supply pledges. When asked by the host whether his pledge of 30,000 half-half apartments was too small, he responded, "Do you think pledges of 700,000 or 1 million units are realistic?" Although this seemed like a retort to the host’s question, it was a criticism of other candidates’ general real estate supply policies. Oh had pledged a 'repurchase-condition half-half apartment,' where the Seoul city would sell apartments at half price and guarantee up to half of the resale profit when resold.
