[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gwanak-gu (District Mayor Park Junhee) has prepared a comprehensive plan to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and minimize inconvenience to residents during the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday, continuing to ensure public safety as usual throughout the holiday period.
The district has established a seven-pronged comprehensive plan to be implemented by the 15th, focusing on ▲COVID-19 infection prevention ▲sharing ▲traffic ▲safety ▲prices ▲daily life ▲establishment of public service discipline.
To this end, a ‘Lunar New Year Comprehensive Situation Room’ has been set up on the first floor of the district office, maintaining an information phone counseling center, a duty room, and organizing functional task forces for traffic, snow removal, cleaning, medical care, and safety to sustain an emergency work system.
In particular, during the holiday period, the public health center’s screening clinic will operate from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., strengthening COVID-19 response safety management including specimen collection and patient transport support.
Two temporary screening clinics where anonymous testing is available for those who wish (Gumin Sports Complex, Sillim Sports Complex) will operate from February 11 to 13, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Pre-holiday and post-holiday safety inspections will also be conducted. Thorough preventive disinfection and checks for fire and freezing risks will be carried out at 4 safety-vulnerable facilities, 3 apartment construction sites, 76 construction sites and type 3 facilities, 92 road facilities, 170 public facilities including parks, street greenery, and forests, 21 multi-use facilities such as traditional markets and shopping districts, and 78 gas facilities to prevent safety accidents.
To allow residents to enjoy the holiday without parking worries, 6 on-street public parking lots with 267 spaces will be opened free of charge, and some roads around Inheon Market, Haengun-dong Jungbu Market, and Bongcheon Hyundai Market will temporarily allow parking and stopping during the holiday period to revitalize traditional markets.
To reduce inconvenience in waste disposal, intensive waste collection will be conducted before the holiday begins, and a comprehensive cleaning situation room will operate during the holiday to respond to urgent civil complaints. During this Lunar New Year holiday, waste disposal is allowed only on the 14th, and autonomous large-scale cleaning will be conducted at neighborhood community centers before and after the holiday, with efforts to maintain the environment of alleys and main roads.
Additionally, donations and food support will be provided to low-income residents to help them have a warm winter, with tailored support for vulnerable groups such as national basic livelihood security recipients, persons with disabilities, homeless people, and elderly living alone.
Also, during the holiday period, an emergency medical countermeasure situation room will operate on the 4th floor of the public health center’s medical department, providing information on available duty medical institutions and holiday pharmacies.
