10 COVID-19 Cases Reported in Gyeongnam Province ... 8 Local, 2 Overseas
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] On the 5th, 10 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in the Gyeongnam region in one day.
Among them, 8 cases were local infections excluding 2 cases from overseas arrivals; 7 were contacts of confirmed cases, and 1 case is under investigation for the infection route.
By region, there were 3 cases in Miryang, 2 each in Changwon and Geoje, and 1 each in Jinju, Changnyeong, and Yangsan.
Among the confirmed cases in Miryang, a woman in her 50s works at a public institution in the area and had contact with a family member infected by a confirmed case from Busan.
The other confirmed cases in Miryang, Changwon, Geoje, and Changnyeong mostly had contact with confirmed cases within the province or were tested due to symptoms.
The woman in her 20s from Jinju and the man in his 30s from Yangsan were overseas arrivals.
The cumulative number of confirmed cases in the province has increased to 2,010 (154 hospitalized, 1,848 discharged, 8 deceased).
The province announced that to strengthen the community surveillance system for variant viruses, they are testing self-quarantined individuals and active/passive surveillance subjects related to a foreign relatives' gathering where variant viruses were confirmed.
So far, no additional confirmed cases due to variant viruses have been reported.
