Jeongeup City Museum to Promote Public Purchase of Artifacts from Museong Seowon and Donghak on 18-19
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] Jeongeup City Museum in Jeonbuk announced on the 4th that it will publicly purchase artifacts containing the history and identity of Jeongeup to establish the identity of the public museum and utilize exhibition and research materials.
The purchase targets are all types of materials related to Jeongeup's history, such as the World Cultural Heritage Museongseowon and the Donghak Peasant Revolution, and the provenance must be clear.
Also, works by individuals from Jeongeup or those who were active in Jeongeup, such as Mongyeon Kim Jin-min, Dongcho Kim Seok-gon, Changam Lee Sam-man, and Seokji Chae Yong-shin, are included.
However, illegal artifacts such as tomb-raided or stolen items, or materials with unclear origin and ownership cannot be applied for.
Individuals, organizations, or cultural property dealers (approved by the Cultural Heritage Administration) who wish to sell can apply by filling out the form posted in the notice section on the Jeongeup City Hall website from the 18th to the 19th.
The city will decide on the final purchase after document screening of the applied artifacts and review by the Artifact Evaluation Committee.

A city official said, “We will secure related artifacts in various ways to promote Jeongeup’s history and culture,” and added, “We ask for the active interest and participation of citizens so that the city museum can develop into a cultural complex space.”
