South Korean Embassy in Tehran Inquires About Disembarkation Intentions After Boarding the Kemiho
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] The on-site support team of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Iran met with the crew members on the Korean ship Kemi, which was docked at Rajaei Port, on the 3rd, the day after the Iranian government’s release decision, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on the 4th.
This is the first time since the Korean ship Kemi was detained on the 4th of last month that a Korean consul boarded the vessel and interviewed all the crew members.
The on-site support team inquired about the crew’s intention to disembark and checked the living conditions on board and the status of the ship.
Following this meeting, Choi Jong-geon, the First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, called the captain of the Korean ship Kemi to ask about the health and well-being of the crew and stated that the government will continue to make every effort to secure the early release of the captain and the ship.
The captain, saying that all 20 crew members including 5 Koreans are healthy, expressed gratitude for the government’s efforts and support so far, and requested continued efforts to ensure the early release of both the captain and the ship.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is currently consulting with the shipping company regarding the crew’s disembarkation and return to their home country, and plans to continue communication with the Iranian side to ensure the prompt release of the captain and the ship as well.
