According to the industry on the 31st, with the recent confirmation of the first domestic case of COVID-19 infection in animals, consumption of related hygiene products is rapidly increasing, especially among pet owners concerned about their pets' health.
Cleanwrap, a household goods company, reported that sales of its ‘Clean Cut Tape Cleaner’ increased by 99% in the fourth quarter of last year compared to the previous quarter, as social distancing measures reached level 2.5 during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Clean Cut Tape Cleaner features an embossed adhesive tape composed of small convex surfaces, providing strong stickiness and adhesion, allowing thorough cleaning of pet hair stuck in every corner of the house and on clothing. Equipped with the Clean Cut function, used tape can be easily torn off by hand for neat disposal.
A Cleanwrap representative explained, “As people spend more time at home with their pets, many find it difficult to clean pet hair. The Clean Cut Tape Cleaner is highly effective at removing hair and dust from textured materials like bedding, sweaters, coats, carpets, and even slippery tables, making it an essential hygiene product for pet owners.”

Cuckoo Electronics’ pet brand Nello’s ‘Pet Air Shower & Dry Room’ removes fine dust and contaminants from pet fur using an air shower. Sales increased by 20% in November last year compared to the previous month. With the purchase of a separate kit, it also offers aromatherapy functions to support pets’ mental and emotional health.
The ‘Pet Smart Water Dispenser,’ which uses a carbon purification filter to remove floating particles and residual chlorine from pets’ drinking water, is also gaining popularity. A Cuckoo Electronics representative stated, “From August to November last year, average monthly sales increased by 62%, and in October alone, sales rose by 96% compared to the previous month.”
Sales of cleansing agents, deodorants, and disinfectants for cleaning pets’ eyes and ears are also increasing. Since animals have sensitive skin, even disinfectants safe for humans can cause injuries. Bauzen, a manufacturer of electrolyzed water devices, has obtained approval for animal medical devices (medical sterilizing disinfectant water generators) and launched an electrolyzed water device usable by both humans and pets. This device electrolyzes chlorine ions remaining in tap water to produce electrolyzed water with excellent sterilizing and deodorizing effects. Bauzen’s product effectively deodorizes pet odors, urine pad smells, and cushions that are difficult to wash, and can also sterilize pet toys.
Hankyunghee Life Science has completed major irritation tests and released the sterilizing disinfectant ‘Virus Ban,’ which can be safely used in homes with children or pets. Virus Ban is made from 100% natural ingredients and is harmless to humans. According to Hankyunghee Life Science, it contains platinum ion water that inhibits microbial and bacterial growth and applies patented technology that substitutes and ionizes eight minerals including silver.
