Yeosu City Enhances Convenience for Transportation-Disadvantaged with City Bus Boarding and Alighting Assistants
From the 1st of next month, 18 people will be assigned in two shifts at Gyodong, Jungang Market, Seosijang Ssangbong, Jinnam, and Dokkaebi Market
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Yeosu City (Mayor Kwon Oh-bong) announced on the 29th that it will implement a traditional market boarding and alighting assistant project starting next month on the 1st to ensure the safety of transportation-vulnerable individuals when boarding and alighting city buses.
According to the city, 18 public workers will be assigned as boarding and alighting assistants near three traditional markets (Gyodong·Jungang Market, Seo Market, Ssangbong·Jinnam·Dokkaebi Market).
The boarding and alighting assistants will wear work uniforms (vests) at the assigned bus stops and provide services such as guidance on how to use city buses and schedules, surrounding cleanliness activities, and assistance with boarding and alighting for transportation-vulnerable individuals such as the elderly and disabled.
The service will operate in two shifts for 5 hours a day from around 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays.
Before starting operations, the city conducted quarantine and safety education, including strict fever checks and mask-wearing according to COVID-19 social distancing guidelines during work.

A city official stated, “In the second half of the year, we plan to promote public jobs to improve convenience and resolve inconveniences for transportation-vulnerable individuals,” and added, “We will continue to discover projects in various fields to provide civil services that satisfy all citizens.”
