Seoul Gangseo-gu, '2021 Lunar New Year Disaster Vulnerable Facility Safety Inspection' Promotion
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gangseo-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Noh Hyun-song) is conducting safety inspections of disaster-vulnerable facilities ahead of the traditional Korean holiday, Seollal.
The district will carry out intensive inspections of 39 disaster-vulnerable facilities, including large construction sites in the Magok area and retaining walls of apartment complexes, until February 5.
The purpose is to prevent various safety accidents in advance and minimize inconveniences to residents' daily lives to ensure a safe Seollal.
First, an inspection team composed of six private experts from various fields such as architects, soil and foundation engineers will be formed to inspect large construction sites, retaining walls around construction sites, and steep slopes.
The inspection team will visit 19 construction sites, including many large-scale projects in the Magok area, to focus on checking the management of safety management plans, establishment of fire, explosion, and suffocation prevention measures, and the safety management status of gas and oil handling facilities.
For seven retaining walls and steep slopes around construction sites with high accident risks, the safety status will be checked by examining horizontal movement, subsidence, and crack levels.
Additionally, the district will conduct safety inspections on vulnerable facilities such as retaining walls and fences of apartment complexes within the district, as well as small-scale apartment construction sites.
For four vulnerable facilities such as retaining walls and fences of aging apartment complexes, responsible officials will visit the sites for intensive inspections.
Also, for nine small-scale apartment construction sites in the area, the management entities of each site will conduct self-inspections according to safety inspection checklists and submit the checklists to the district office.
Based on the inspection results, minor issues will be corrected immediately on-site, and owners will be notified to implement safety measures for facilities requiring repairs or reinforcements.
In particular, construction sites where serious safety accidents have occurred or are highly likely to occur will be ordered to stop construction immediately.
The district plans to continuously manage and halt construction at facilities where risk factors are found until safety is secured, preparing for any potential safety accidents.
