Gwanak-gu Byeolbitnaerimcheon Transformed into a Safe Stroll Path with Starry Night Sky
Lighting Displays with 'Starlight' Theme in the Section from Sillim 4·5-dong Bridge to Sillim 1 Bridge
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Junhee) is promoting a project to create a safe walking path where starlight pours down, transforming Byeolbitnaerimcheon into a nighttime scenic attraction.
Last October, the district established the identity of Dorimcheon in Gwanak-gu and set the brand name "Byeolbitnaerimcheon" for the Gwanak-gu section of Dorimcheon to differentiate itself from other districts and enhance competitiveness. They are currently carrying out improvement projects such as renovating aging facilities under the "Byeolbit Space Creation Project."
As part of this project, themed "Dorimcheon with the Glory of Starlight," landscape lighting will be installed to create distinctive nighttime waterfront scenery considering the characteristics of each section. Cold urban structures such as bridges and piers will be illuminated with light to prevent crime.
About 100 landscape lights will be installed on the upper parts of piers from Sinlim 4·5-dong Bridge to Sinlim 1 Bridge, and gobo lights projecting graphics will be installed on the walking path floor, allowing residents to enjoy safe and pleasant walks even at night.
In particular, in front of the waterfront stage, fiber optics will be used to depict General Gang Gamchan, a hero of Gwanak-gu, and the 12 zodiac constellations, transforming the area into a representative resting space for residents enjoying the Byeolbitnaerimcheon walk and the central space of Byeolbitnaerimcheon.
The lighting will be designed to harmonize with the green landscape using calm light that is not overly artificial, and new LED technology will be applied to save energy.
Going forward, the district plans to sequentially promote the improvement of resident convenience facilities and street facilities along Byeolbitnaerimcheon, create a Byeolbit Gate to ensure safe entry and exit, and complete the ecological axis of the southwestern region’s representative river, making Gwanak-gu a tourist attraction and a new growth engine for the local economy.
