Air Seoul Surpasses 1 Million Domestic Passengers
[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Air Seoul announced on the 28th that the cumulative number of domestic passengers exceeded 1 million as of last year. It has been 1 year and 2 months since domestic flights began with the launch of the Gimpo~Jeju route on October 27, 2019.
As international flights became difficult due to the spread of COVID-19, Air Seoul deployed international aircraft to domestic routes from the first half of 2020, increasing flights on the high-demand Gimpo~Jeju route. It also launched new domestic routes such as Gimpo~Busan, Busan~Jeju, and Cheongju~Jeju, significantly increasing the number of domestic passengers.
In particular, in November last year, the number of domestic passengers in one month exceeded 140,000, achieving a record performance with a 260% increase compared to about 40,000 in the same period the previous year.
An Air Seoul official said, “We plan to expand domestic operations, including irregular flights, until international flights resume,” adding, “We will continue various promotions such as special fares and partnership promotions on the high-demand Jeju route.”
