[Muan=-Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The large-scale industrial complex renovation project in Jeonnam Province has officially started.
Jeonnam Province announced on the 27th that a project group leading low-carbon and smart initiatives has officially launched at the Yeosu National Industrial Complex, a key site for the industrial complex renovation.
The Jeonnam Regional Headquarters of the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation opened the 'Jeonnam Yeosu Smart Green Industrial Complex Project Group' and held a plaque ceremony.
The plaque ceremony was attended by Yoon Byung-tae, Jeonnam Province Deputy Governor for Political Affairs; Jang Yang-jin, Director of Industrial Innovation Growth at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy; National Assembly member Joo Cheol-hyun; Kim Jeong-hwan, Chairman of the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation; and other related officials and businesspeople.
The 'Smart Green Industrial Complex Project Group' will be responsible for transforming the Gwangyang Bay Area industrial complexes (Yeosu, Gwangyang, Yulchon 1 Industrial Complex), selected last year by the government as an industrial complex renovation region, into a 'low-carbon intelligent materials and components industrial complex' with global competitiveness.
This year marks the first year of the industrial complex renovation, with plans to start projects such as the Process Innovation Simulation Center for establishing a smart industrial complex foundation, the Digital Environment and Safety Integrated Management Center, smart factories, and industrial cluster competitiveness enhancement projects.
Over the next four years, the project group will be operated with dispatched local government officials and experts from related organizations, including Jeonnam Province, Yeosu City, Technopark, and the Industry-Academia Convergence Foundation.
