Naju City - Haeyang Energy Co., Ltd., Business Agreement to Expand City Gas Supply
[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yuk-bong] Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kang In-gyu) announced on the 27th that it signed the ‘2nd Urban Gas Supply Project Business Agreement’ with Haeyang Energy Co., Ltd. (CEO Kim Hyung-soon), the urban gas supply operator, for a total of 5 years.
The 2nd project will invest 15.6 billion KRW (12.4 billion KRW from the city, 3.2 billion KRW from Haeyang Energy) from this year until 2025 to extend and install 38 km of urban gas pipelines targeting about 1,100 households in 7 areas including Dasi, Geumcheon, Sanpo-myeon locations, and additional sections in the old downtown area (Geumnam, Songwol, Ungok).
Through the agreement, both organizations agreed to strengthen mutual cooperation in budget support for expanding urban gas supply in the old downtown area, approval of road excavation permits, and various other administrative tasks.
Haeyang Energy Co., Ltd. pledged to use materials and various equipment produced in the city and to allow local companies to participate in construction to revitalize the local economy during the project implementation.
The signing ceremony was replaced by a written exchange between the two organizations to prevent COVID-19.

Mayor Kang In-gyu said, “Through the expansion of economical and safe urban gas supply, the energy welfare policy of the city is proving effective as fuel costs are reduced and residential environments improve for residents in energy-deprived areas. We will do our best to cooperate with Haeyang Energy to minimize residents’ inconvenience caused by road excavation and to successfully complete the project within the deadline.”
