[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] LS Group is accelerating ESG management centered on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and the adoption of smart technologies.
According to LS Group on the 27th, LS Cable & System recently secured over 1 trillion KRW by winning submarine cable projects for offshore wind power in Taiwan, the United States, and the Netherlands, in the global submarine cable market where eco-friendly energy offshore wind farm developments are increasing. In May this year, they developed solar power dedicated cables and received international standard certification from the global certification body, Germany's TUV Rheinland, planning to expand into the renewable energy market.
LS Electric is strengthening its next-generation power grid "microgrid" business, which enables small regions to be self-sufficient in power, by leveraging converged smart solutions that apply ICT to the technology secured in the power and automation fields. They have already completed and started commercial operation of the largest domestic 94MW-class solar power plant in Yeongam, Jeollanam-do, as well as overseas sites such as Hokkaido and Hanamizuki in Japan.
LS Nikko Copper is focusing on enhancing production efficiency and stability by promoting a smart factory system (ODS) that connects the entire production process via communication at the Onsan smelter.
Eco-friendly liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) specialist E1 established a 'Renewable Private Power Generation Business Team' last year and has actively entered the renewable energy business sector by completing an 8MW-class solar power plant in Jeongseon, Gangwon Province.
Additionally, YESCO supplies clean fuel city gas to about 1.3 million customers in 9 districts of Seoul and 5 cities/counties in Gyeonggi Province, while simultaneously conducting thorough safety management of gas facilities and hazard elimination activities.
