China: "US military show of force in South China Sea does not help peace"
[Asia Economy Reporter Son Sun-hee] The Chinese government has accused the United States of demonstrating military force in the South China Sea.
Zhao Lijian, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said at a regular briefing on the 25th, "The frequent deployment of warships and military aircraft by the United States to demonstrate military power is not conducive to peace and stability in the region."
According to Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense, Chinese bombers and fighter jets repeatedly violated Taiwan's Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) for two consecutive days on the 23rd and 24th, while the US Roosevelt aircraft carrier strike group entered the South China Sea on the 23rd to conduct exercises.
In response, the US State Department warned in a statement, "The United States is closely monitoring with concern the ongoing standardized attempts by the Chinese People's Liberation Army to intimidate neighbors, including Taiwan."
