Leading Technology Support Center and Global Business Center in Bitgreen Industrial Complex to be Completed in May...
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] The "Eco-friendly Automobile Parts Cluster Development Project" promoted by Gwangju Metropolitan City is gaining momentum.
According to Gwangju City on the 25th, the "Eco-friendly Automobile Parts Cluster Development Project" was initiated to create a leading eco-friendly automobile city, secure the competitiveness of the local automobile industry, and foster the convergence and advancement of related electronic parts technologies, aiming to upgrade the structure of the automobile parts industry.
The project, running from 2016 to 2022, involves an investment of a total of 303 billion KRW in the Bitgreen Industrial Complex, an automobile-exclusive industrial complex, to establish infrastructure, develop technology, and support companies, thereby creating an ecosystem to lead the future automobile industry.
Currently, construction of core infrastructure facilities is underway at the research site (32,989㎡) in Samgeo-dong, Gwangsan-gu, Bitgreen Industrial Complex, with completion targeted for May. In particular, a Leading Technology Support Center with one basement floor and two above-ground floors, totaling 10,906㎡ in gross floor area, and a Global Business Center with one basement floor and five above-ground floors, totaling 4,889㎡ in gross floor area, are being built.
The Leading Technology Support Center is equipped with 179 types of technology development equipment to support the development of eco-friendly and smart parts tailored to the needs of parts companies and will play a pivotal role in future car technology development.
The Global Business Center will serve as a venue for inter-company exchange, performing key functions such as startup incubation, business diversification, overseas marketing, and workforce training support.
Gwangju City expects that the newly constructed infrastructure will become a landmark of the Bitgreen Industrial Complex, promote technology development and production innovation among local automobile parts companies, and drive the structural advancement of the eco-friendly automobile parts industry.
Previously, as part of the Eco-friendly Automobile Parts Cluster Development Project, 35 technology development tasks were carried out under the leadership of parts companies, with 15 commercialization projects currently underway, resulting in achievements such as the creation of 461 jobs and an increase in sales of 6.6 billion KRW.
Additionally, 20 ongoing technology development tasks will be supported through continuous consulting to ensure early commercialization.
In this regard, the Green Car Promotion Agency, the lead organization, and participating institutions have trained 847 personnel in automobile parts production, specialized, and prospective roles through workforce training programs using 50 types of equipment introduced earlier.
At the joint training center within the Green Car Promotion Agency, which opened in August last year, the Ministry of Employment and Labor and 61 local parts companies signed an agreement and produced 280 specialized personnel tailored to company needs, with plans to train more than 500 people this year.
