According to U.S. media including CNN, President Biden began signing 17 executive orders at 5:15 p.m. local time on the 20th in his office.
The executive orders signed that day include rejoining the Paris Climate Agreement, returning to the World Health Organization (WHO), mandating mask use on federal property, and banning travel to the U.S. by nationals of Islamic State countries.
President Biden told reporters, "As of today, the United States is rejoining the Paris Climate Agreement."
He also emphasized, "Today's signing is to keep promises to the people," and predicted, "More laws will be needed."
According to The Washington Post, from this day forward, various executive orders and policy announcements aimed at overturning existing policies on COVID-19 response, economic support, national security, and climate change are expected daily.
