[Click eStock] "Fan Entertainment, Growth in Scale Due to Increase in Production Volume"
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] KB Securities forecasted on the 17th that Pan Entertainment's scale will grow this year as the number of drama productions increases.
Pan Entertainment is a comprehensive media content company that has produced dramas such as 'Winter Sonata,' 'Moon Embracing the Sun,' 'Kill Me, Heal Me,' 'Ssam Mai Way,' and 'When the Camellia Blooms.' It is engaged in broadcasting video production, actor management, music album business, and film business. As of the end of last year, it has produced a total of 59 dramas since its establishment. It has created a structure to continuously secure a content lineup through a team of about 20 writers.
Seong Hyun-dong, a researcher at KB Securities, said, "Last year, we produced one drama, 'Record of Youth,'" and explained, "This year, profitability will improve through the expansion of drama production and directly owned IP."
He added, "There is a favorable business environment due to increased content demand caused by COVID-19, the possibility of easing China's Han-Han-ryeong restrictions, and the increase in K-drama demand following the entry of major OTT platforms into Korea."
Researcher Seong emphasized, "We will produce five new dramas this year," and highlighted, "One of the new works, 'Racket Boys,' is the first work since 'Winter Sonata' for which we own 100% of the IP, and it will be broadcast on SBS and Netflix."
He also analyzed, "Pan Entertainment revalued its building in Sangam-dong," and said, "As a revaluation gain of approximately 24.5 billion KRW was recorded, it will have an effect of improving the financial structure."
