Assemblyman Lee Byung-hoon: "Lee Nak-yeon is Suitable as the Party's Presidential Candidate"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Congressman Lee Byung-hoon (Democratic Party of Korea·Gwangju Dong-gu Nam-gu Eul) recently supported party leader Lee Nak-yeon in the ongoing controversy over the party's presidential candidate competition.
This opinion contrasts with that of Congressman Min Hyung-bae (Democratic Party of Korea·Gwangju Gwangsan Eul), who recently expressed support for Gyeonggi Province Governor Lee Jae-myung.
Lee served as the chief director and co-chairman of the Gwangju campaign headquarters for presidential candidate Moon Jae-in during the 2017 presidential election and is classified as belonging to a group not affiliated with any specific faction.
He praised the Lee Nak-yeon leadership, saying it handled the most reform bills since the democratization of 1987, including power agency reform bills and fair economy bills related to people's livelihoods, and also led approximately 17 trillion won in COVID-19 damage support over two rounds.
He added, "In recreating the regime, the criteria for candidates should be judged by adding morality to passion, responsibility, and a sense of balance, as Max Weber said," and stated, "Among the candidates mentioned, party leader Lee Nak-yeon is the appropriate figure."
