"Don't Worry About Boilers in the Cold Wave"... Seoul Gangseo-gu Supports Installation of Eco-Friendly Home Boilers
Support of 200,000 KRW per unit for replacing boilers over 10 years old, 600,000 KRW support for low-income households
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] This winter, continuous cold waves have caused concerns for households struggling with old boiler breakdowns or soaring heating bills, but these worries will be alleviated.
Gangseo-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Noh Hyun-song) announced that subsidies will be provided for replacing household conventional boilers with eco-friendly condensing boilers. This is to expand the distribution of environmentally friendly and energy-efficient boilers.
Eco-friendly boilers emit fewer pollutants, making them effective in reducing fine dust. In particular, their high energy efficiency offers the advantage of saving on heating costs. Compared to conventional boilers, they reduce annual expenses by approximately 130,000 KRW.
The support targets homeowners who wish to replace household boilers that are over 10 years old with eco-friendly boilers. However, public facilities, new constructions, and commercial use are excluded.
From January to September this year, subsidies will be provided, and thereafter, subject to remaining budget, replacements of boilers less than 10 years old will be supported on a first-come, first-served basis.
The subsidy amount is 200,000 KRW per unit for general households and 600,000 KRW per unit for low-income households.
There are two application methods: 'individual application' and 'seller (installation company) proxy application,' allowing applicants to choose the most convenient method.
However, since eco-friendly boilers generate condensate, installation may be restricted in locations where condensate drainage piping cannot be installed. Households where securing a drain is difficult or where there is a high risk of condensate freezing can consult with the Green Environment Division of the district office regarding boiler installation.
