Gwangju City Conducts Safety Inspections of Multi-use Facilities Ahead of Lunar New Year Holiday Until the 29th
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 14th that it will inspect the safety of 112 multi-use facilities from the 18th to the 29th ahead of the Lunar New Year.
This inspection will be conducted by a joint inspection team composed of the city, autonomous districts, Korea Electrical Safety Corporation, Korea Fire Safety Institute, and external experts, focusing on whether winter fire prevention measures have been established.
The inspection targets include ▲sales facilities such as department stores, large marts, traditional markets, and food material marts ▲passenger facilities such as bus terminals and subway stations ▲viewing facilities such as movie theaters, which are expected to be frequently visited by citizens during the Lunar New Year.
In particular, attention will be paid to the management status of fire-related facilities such as electricity and gas, which may be neglected due to reduced citizen traffic caused by COVID-19.
Additionally, an analysis of 2,953 cases of multi-use facility inspections during holidays over the past five years (2016?2020) revealed that fire safety areas such as electrical wiring management, securing evacuation routes, and whether obstructions are left unattended are the most vulnerable and will be intensively inspected.
For simple and minor issues found during the safety inspection, improvements will be made on-site, and for matters requiring maintenance, business operators will be required to take prompt action. Safety inspection education will also be conducted to enable regular self-inspections of facility management.
