Hamyang-gun Supports Health Checkups for Prospective and Newlywed Couples to Increase Birth Rate
Support for Women's Screening Costs up to 200,000 KRW and Men's Screening Costs up to 100,000 KRW
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 14th that it will support health checkups to help healthy pregnancy and happy family life for prospective and newlywed couples.
The eligible applicants are 100 couples, either prospective couples or newlyweds within one year of marriage registration, where at least one spouse has resided in the county for more than six months as of the application date.
The examination items for women include uterine ultrasound, rubella test, and breast X-ray, while for men, semen analysis and prostate examination are included.
The checkups can be done at any medical institution nationwide that offers the specified tests, and the support amount is up to 200,000 KRW for women and 100,000 KRW for men.
Applicants must receive the designated checkup at a medical institution and visit the public health center to claim within three months from the initial examination date.
Required documents include an ID card, wedding hall contract, and invitation card for prospective couples, and an ID card along with a marriage certificate or resident registration for newlyweds.

A public health center official said, “This project is expected to contribute to creating a healthy childbirth environment by reducing the economic burden on prospective and newlywed couples during pregnancy and childbirth preparation and decreasing risks related to infertility and high-risk pregnancies.”
