[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yoo Deok-yeol, Mayor of Dongdaemun District Office, participated in the ‘Expect Local Autonomy’ challenge on the 12th.
The ‘Expect Local Autonomy’ challenge was first initiated by the Presidential Committee on Local Autonomy following the passage of the full revision of the Local Autonomy Act in the National Assembly last December, with the purpose of sharing hopes for the realization of resident-centered local autonomy.
Especially this year marks the 30th anniversary of the implementation of local autonomy. While the past 30 years have been an era of local autonomy centered on government and local government organizations, it holds great significance as the beginning of the ‘Local Autonomy 2.0 Era,’ where residents become the main agents.
Participants nominated to join the challenge upload photos containing messages about the ‘Local Autonomy 2.0 Era’ on SNS and nominate the next participants.
Yoo Deok-yeol, Mayor of Dongdaemun District Office, who joined the challenge upon the nomination of Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk District Office, nominated Yoo Dong-gyun, Mayor of Mapo District Office, and Cho Gwang-han, Mayor of Namyangju City, as the next participants.
