Dennis Hong Presents 'Safe City Seoul' Promotional Video in 10 Languages
"Seoul's Safety Found in Science! Found in People!"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] In line with the rapid progress of the 4th Industrial Revolution and the COVID-19 pandemic, the Seoul Metropolitan Government unveiled a promotional video titled "Global Safe City Seoul" on the 14th.
Produced under the theme "Finding Seoul's Safety in Science! Finding it in People!", the video is designed to reflect on the recovery of urban safety in the post-COVID-19 era, featuring robots and artificial intelligence (AI) working alongside Seoul citizens to replace humans.
The video stars Dennis Hong, a world-renowned robotic scientist and professor at UCLA, who was appointed Seoul's first science ambassador last year. He appears alongside robots he personally created, including DarwinOP (a soccer robot), Ballu (a balloon-walking robot), Silvia (a six-legged robot), an autonomous delivery robot, and a robotic hand (electronic prosthesis).
In the video, he plays the roles of a police officer, firefighter, and quarantine officer?key figures responsible for safety during the pandemic?conveying the message that with science at the core of Seoul’s S-quarantine system and citizens implementing it, Seoul’s safety will be assured today and tomorrow.

The promotional video, produced in 10 languages including English, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, German, French, Vietnamese, Arabic, Russian, and Portuguese, had its teaser released on the 5th. Starting from the 14th, the full video will be showcased across various Seoul city channels and global SNS platforms such as Facebook and YouTube. It will serve as the representative promotional video for international events held in Seoul, exchanges with foreign dignitaries, and Seoul’s overseas marketing projects.
