Goheung-gun, Harvesting Hallabong Amid Winter Cold Wave 'Sweat and Effort'
Song Guigeun, Gohung County Governor, Visits Farming Sites to Encourage Farmers
[Goheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] On the 13th, Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that as the winter cold wave intensifies, farmers are busy harvesting golden fruits, including Hallabong and other citrus fruits.
Song Gwigeun, the governor of Goheung-gun, visited the farming site where Hallabong harvesting is in full swing, listened to the difficulties faced by rural farmers, and participated in the harvest, drawing attention by helping with the busy farm work along with on-site administration.
At this occasion, Governor Song encouraged the farmers, saying, "Despite the conditions where farmers' morale is lowered due to decreased agricultural product consumption and price drops caused by COVID-19, I am proud of our farmers producing premium Hallabong, and thanks to your passion, Goheung Hallabong, boasting the best taste nationwide, can be produced."
Goheung Hallabong is produced in an optimal environment for crop cultivation, with more fertile land and abundant sunlight compared to other regions, resulting in excellent sweetness and high nutritional value, attracting consumers' attention. It has established itself as a flagship product of Goheung-gun with continuous gift orders nationwide for the Lunar New Year this year.
Despite poor finances, Goheung-gun has invested about 450 million won over the past three years to build a production foundation for facility horticulture and enhance the added value of agricultural products by supporting the construction, repair, and maintenance of vinyl greenhouses and providing sorting machines for citrus fruit farmers.
