According to Sangju Prison on the 12th, two correctional officers tested positive on the previous day (the 11th) and were transferred to Andong Living Treatment Center.
The employees had undergone rapid antigen tests between the 6th and 8th and received negative results, but the PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test conducted on the 11th came back positive.
The PCR tests at that time were limited to employees. In relation to this, quarantine authorities have begun PCR testing of all approximately 500 inmates. The results are expected to be released late on the night of the 12th.
Sangju Prison has isolated seven inmates who were identified as having had contact with the two infected correctional officers in single cells and is conducting an epidemiological investigation to determine the infection route.
