Joo Ho-young "Corona Profit Sharing System? It Means Twisting Companies' Arms to Reclaim Even Their Profits"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] On the 12th, Joo Ho-young, floor leader of the People Power Party, criticized Lee Nak-yeon, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, for his remarks on considering the introduction of a 'COVID-19 profit-sharing system,' saying, "It is an attempt to twist the arms of economic agents and even reclaim their profits."
On the same day, during the 3rd Ontact Policy Workshop held at the National Assembly in the afternoon, Floor Leader Joo said, "Jobs should be created by companies and the private sector, but not only have they tied the hands and feet of companies with various regulations, they are now going further by insisting on implementing a profit-sharing system."
Kim Eun-hye, spokesperson for the People Power Party, also sharpened her criticism in a statement, saying, "The order of things is wrong. If you want profit sharing, the first step is to share the profits taken by the Moon Jae-in administration," and added, "Are you still not satisfied with the accumulation of wealth through solar power, Lime·Optimus, suspicions of embezzlement of donations for comfort women victims by Yoon Mi-hyang, and the power-abusing accumulation?"
Spokesperson Kim said, "I am speechless at the unconstitutional idea of the ruling party leader to confiscate the people's property, who have done nothing but work diligently, to fill the depleted national treasury," and criticized, "Where does the shamelessness come from that intends to make the people twist their arms to bear the responsibilities that the government should reflect on and repent for?"
He added, "Putting aside the universal validity of policies that can be consistently implemented even after COVID-19, the objectivity of profit measurement, and the effectiveness of the policy, I have nothing to say about the ruling party leader's 'take it or leave it' style remarks," and sharply criticized, "Please stop the collective bullying by the Moon administration now."

Earlier that morning, Leader Lee Nak-yeon said, "Our society should also discuss various ways in which sectors or groups that gain significant profits from COVID-19 contribute part of their profits to help those who have suffered greatly," and ordered, "Rather than forcing it, please have the Policy Committee and the Democratic Research Institute review ways to induce voluntary participation together with civil society and the business community."
