Ministry of Environment Joins Voluntary Agreement to Reduce Packaging, Introduces 'Large-Capacity Sanitary Pads' with Reduced Repackaging
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Yuhan-Kimberly announced on the 12th that it has launched a large-capacity sanitary pad with approximately 40% less plastic packaging film. Since 2019, Yuhan-Kimberly has been making efforts to improve the repackaging vinyl of sanitary pads to more sustainable materials, and after participating in the Ministry of Environment's voluntary agreement to 'reduce excessive packaging' in September last year, it has reduced the new plastic usage of all secondary packaging applied to bundled products by 30% until November.
In addition, the company started product planning for more effective packaging reduction and developed a large-capacity planned product by reducing the secondary packaging of bundled products. The newly developed large-capacity product reduced plastic packaging film by more than 40% compared to existing similar bundled products. The products introduced through this special large-capacity plan include medium and large sizes of Yuhan-Kimberly's main sanitary pad products such as 'Good Feel Organic Cotton Cover,' 'Good Feel Air Fit Cushion,' 'Good Feel Good Cotton,' and 'White Secret Hole,' each consisting of 60 and 54 pieces respectively.
A Yuhan-Kimberly representative explained, "The large-capacity products not only have an environmental effect by reducing repackaging but also align with the recent consumer trend of larger shopping basket sizes as people spend more time at home. We plan to supply related products and prepare various communications so that consumers can choose products more comfortably without worrying about packaging burdens."
