Sharing SNS Support Messages for the Complete Revision of the Local Autonomy Act Making Residents the Main Agents of Local Autonomy... In the Era of Decentralization 2.0, Active Resident Participation Should Lead to Improved Quality of Life!
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Park Jun-hee, Mayor of Gwanak-gu, participated in the ‘Looking Forward to Local Autonomy’ challenge, which is being held to support the opening of the Local Autonomy 2.0 era.
The year 2021 marks the 30th anniversary of the implementation of local autonomy. If local autonomy so far has been a ‘Local Autonomy 1.0 era’ focused on organizations centered on central and local governments, it can be said that the future will be the opening of the resident-centered ‘Local Autonomy 2.0 era.’
This challenge was first initiated by the Presidential Committee on Local Autonomy to share hopes for realizing resident-centered local autonomy through the fully revised Local Autonomy Act for the first time in 32 years and the introduction of the autonomous police system for the first time in 75 years via SNS messages.
Participants take photos expressing their free opinions about the ‘Local Autonomy 2.0 era,’ upload them on their social networking services (SNS) such as Facebook and Instagram, and then designate the next participant.
Mayor Park Jun-hee said while participating in the challenge, “Gwanak, a cooperative city guaranteeing residents’ sovereignty, will welcome the Local Autonomy 2.0 era through active communication with residents,” and added, “We will do our best to ensure that active resident participation leads to enhanced urban competitiveness and improved quality of life for residents.”
