Yangcheon-gu Operates 'Youth Internship Program' to Simultaneously Address Youth Employment Crisis and SME Workforce Shortage
Support for Youth Employment with Recruitment, Selection, Matching, and Salary Support for Companies and Youth from January 11 to February 5
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kim Soo-young) operates the Yangcheon-gu Youth Internship Program to promote employment for unemployed youth in Yangcheon-gu and to alleviate manpower shortages in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The Youth Internship Program is a project that matches companies with youth to facilitate employment, and the district expects it to simultaneously address both employment difficulties and job shortages.
Eligible companies are SMEs located in Seoul under the Framework Act on Small and Medium Enterprises, with five or more employees and plans to convert interns to full-time positions after the internship period. Eligible youth interns are unemployed individuals aged 15 to 34 residing in Yangcheon-gu as of the announcement date; university students are excluded from eligibility.
However, those who have completed the required courses for graduation and are on leave or vacation immediately before graduation, as well as those enrolled in broadcasting, communication, broadcasting-communication, cyber, or night schools, are eligible to apply.
Eight companies and eight youth interns will be selected, and companies hiring youth interns will receive support covering 90% of the salary per person for 10 months, up to a total of 18 million KRW (with a monthly limit of 1.8 million KRW).
Since 2012, the district has facilitated employment for 41 youth across 39 companies, contributing to alleviating youth employment difficulties.
Applications will be accepted from January 11 to February 5, and the Youth Internship Program Operating Committee will select and match eligible companies and youth. Selected youth interns will work for 10 months from March 2 to December.
Companies or unemployed youth wishing to participate in the Yangcheon-gu Youth Internship Program can check details on the Yangcheon-gu Office website under public notices and apply by submitting the application form and related documents via email (jieun1003@yangcheon.go.kr).
