Mokpo City Reports 1 Additional COVID-19 Confirmed Case
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seung-hyun Jeong] One new confirmed case of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) was reported overnight in Mokpo.
According to Mokpo City on the 10th, the 41st confirmed case, which occurred at 11 p.m. on the 9th, is a man in his 20s attending a university in Seoul and was recently confirmed to be working part-time in Mokpo. The confirmed patient was transferred to Mokpo Medical Center around 10:30 a.m. on the 10th.
As of 11 a.m. on the 10th, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in Mokpo City is 41, with one hospitalized patient being the 41st confirmed case.
The confirmed patient was tested for overseas departure, and five coworkers who were tested together for departure received negative results.
The detailed infection route is under investigation, and three cohabiting family members also tested negative, so this confirmed case is considered a typical asymptomatic case.
Disinfection has been completed at the places visited by the confirmed patient, and a detailed epidemiological investigation is underway, including analyzing CCTV footage of visited businesses to identify any additional contacts. The city plans to disclose information related to the confirmed patient’s movement paths and other details on the city website or via text messages as they become available.
Mokpo City has installed and is operating a temporary screening clinic at Hadang Peace Plaza to proactively identify asymptomatic cases. Testing is free, and individuals can be tested anonymously if they wish.

Mayor Kim Jong-sik said, “Recently, many asymptomatic cases have been found at temporary screening clinics nationwide,” and added, “Even if you have no symptoms, citizens who suspect exposure due to travel to other regions are strongly encouraged to get tested.”
