Gyeongnam Province Reports 20 New COVID-19 Cases... Total 1,533 Confirmed
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] Gyeongnam Province announced on the 9th that 20 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed between the evening of the 8th and the morning of the 9th.
Among the 18 cities and counties in Gyeongnam, there were 8 cases in Gimhae-si, 4 in Changwon-si, 3 in Jinju-si, 2 in Sacheon-si, 2 in Yangsan-si, and 1 in Geoje-si.
Of the 8 confirmed cases in Gimhae-si, 4 are sisters: one woman in her 20s and three teenage women, all holding Syrian nationality.
The four sisters, who reside in Korea, are believed by the province to have been infected after coming into contact with their father, who tested positive on the 7th while in self-quarantine after arriving from Syria on December 25 last year to visit his daughters.
Most of the other confirmed cases are acquaintances, family members, or coworkers of previously confirmed patients.
The province has transferred confirmed patients to specialized infectious disease treatment hospitals or sent them to residential treatment centers.
