[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) has achieved the great feat of being selected for the highest grade, A, in the nationwide local government '2020 Regional Safety Diagnosis' evaluation conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
The regional safety diagnosis evaluation, which was conducted biennially, changed to an annual evaluation starting in 2020, making it significant that Jungnang-gu received the highest grade for two consecutive times following 2018, excluding 2019 when no evaluation was conducted.
In particular, with the acquisition of the A grade in regional safety this time, the district will be able to receive an additional 2% of disaster recovery funds from the national treasury when a special disaster area is declared in the future.
The regional safety evaluation conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety is a system that diagnoses natural disaster safety by comprehensively verifying 53 indicators covering disaster prevention policies nationwide across 243 local governments, including disaster risk factors, disaster prevention measures implementation, facility inspections, and maintenance.
The diagnosis results are divided into five grades (A to E), with grades closer to A indicating higher safety levels.
Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “It is very meaningful to receive the highest grade in this nationwide regional safety evaluation,” and added, “We will continue to spare no effort in creating a safe Jungnang by thoroughly identifying and preparing for disaster risk factors for the safety of our residents.”
