People Power Party: Expert Opinions Must Be Actively Reflected in the COVID-19 Vaccination Promotion Team
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] The People Power Party's Special Committee on COVID-19 Measures stated on the 7th, "Establish governance by involving experts from various fields in the composition of the Disease Control and Prevention Agency's Vaccination Review Committee (Vaccination Response Promotion Team) to ensure transparency and national consensus regarding the overall vaccination process, including the prioritization of vaccine administration."
In a statement released that day, the special committee said, "When selecting priorities, the opinions of relevant expert groups, rather than public officials or politicians, must be actively reflected," and added, "Accurate data-based evidence should be presented to guarantee transparency and to seek public understanding and consent."
The committee also stated, "Cohort isolation in long-term care hospitals and similar facilities can become a more dangerous measure if a system for transferring all patients is not simultaneously implemented," and emphasized, "Decisions on cohort isolation should be made by reflecting the opinions of local medical expert groups regarding the availability of patient treatment beds in the region, as well as the structure, personnel, and facilities of long-term care hospitals."
The committee demanded, "Strengthen monitoring by conducting viral genome analysis on more than 30% of confirmed cases to prevent the spread of variant viruses." They further added, "Form a joint public-private comprehensive COVID-19 response committee involving medical experts."
