[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] 'Housewife CEO' Ilsoon Lim, President and CEO of Homeplus (photo), is stepping down after 3 years and 3 months.
According to the distribution industry on the 7th, President Lim expressed her intention to resign as CEO and President of Homeplus for personal reasons since the second half of last year, and the company recently accepted this. The exact resignation date has not been disclosed, but it is expected to take place in mid-month.
Homeplus stated, "The resignation date has been adjusted to align with the final approval date of the 2021 fiscal year (March 2021 to February 2022) business strategy," adding, "There will be no management gap in executing the completed 2021 business strategy centered on each business division head."
President Lim was the first female CEO in the distribution industry and the first person outside of owner families in the domestic distribution sector to break the 'glass ceiling.' She was recruited in November 2015 as Vice President and CFO of Homeplus's finance division, promoted to Senior Vice President and COO of the management support division in May 2017, and then elevated to President and CEO in October of the same year.

During her tenure, she led changes from multiple perspectives. In July 2019, she made a groundbreaking move by converting approximately 15,000 non-regular contract employees at Homeplus into regular employees. She also played a leading role in transforming Homeplus, which was offline-centered, into an 'All-Line' business model integrated with online. In particular, she converted all offline stores into online logistics hubs and established fulfillment centers in some offline stores in certain regions to respond to online demand.
