Hwasun-gun Extends 'Agricultural Machinery Rental Fee Reduction' Until June
[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Young-gyun] Jeonnam Hwasun-gun (Governor Gu Chung-gon) announced on the 5th that it will extend the 'Agricultural Machinery Rental Fee Reduction,' which is being implemented to reduce the management burden on farmers, until June 30.
A '50% rental fee reduction' will be applied to all models rented by the county's Agricultural Machinery Rental Office.
Delivery fees remain the same as before, based on the rental fee before the reduction: 10,000 KRW for rental fees under 50,000 KRW, 15,000 KRW for rental fees between 50,000 KRW and under 100,000 KRW, and 20,000 KRW for rental fees of 100,000 KRW or more.
Previously, the county reduced agricultural machinery rental fees to support farmers facing difficulties such as consumption contraction and rural labor shortages due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and regional economic recession last year.
Last year, rental fees amounting to 120 million KRW were reduced for 3,473 households, and 556 deliveries of rental agricultural machinery were provided to elderly and vulnerable farming groups.
Compared to the previous year, the number of rentals increased by 40%, and delivery services increased by 54%.
The county's Agricultural Machinery Rental Office operates a main office and two branches, possessing 420 agricultural machines of 68 types.
The number of rentals has continuously increased: 3,167 in 2017, 3,593 in 2018, and 4,439 in 2019.
In particular, last year, during the COVID-19 response rental fee reduction period alone, over 5,000 rentals were made, greatly contributing to alleviating the shortage of rural labor and management burdens in the region.

An official from the Agricultural Technology Center said, “This year as well, we will promote various policies to support farmers struggling due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As the rental fee reduction period is extended and rental numbers are expected to increase, we will do our best to increase the turnover rate of rental agricultural machinery by strengthening repairs and inspections.”
