The Seokogi Technology Award was established in 2015 as an award system to boost the morale of Korea Kolmar researchers and nurture core talents, and has produced a total of 33 outstanding researchers up to this year. Awardees are selected through a review process based on criteria such as new technology development, entry into new businesses based on new technologies, and sales increase.
This year’s grand prize was awarded to researcher Jungmi Park of the Skincare Research Institute for developing the ‘Active High-Concentration Encapsulation Technology.’ This technology encapsulates ingredients that activate skin functions to maximize efficacy. It was applied to the client company Atomy’s Synergy Ampoule, turning it into a hit product.
Researcher Jungmi Park received prize money of 5 million KRW and a plaque, and was honored by having the central conference room of the Comprehensive Technology Institute named the ‘Jungmi Park Room’ for one year.
Notably, this year a special award was also given to the development team that created Korea’s 30th new drug, ‘K-CAB Tablet’ (for gastroesophageal reflux disease). The team was recognized for its achievement of becoming a domestic blockbuster within one year of launch and preparing to enter the North American and Asian markets.
The Excellence Award went to researcher Ha-eun Park of the Food Science Research Institute, who developed the ‘Liquid Vial Formulation Technology Using Fish Collagen Peptides,’ receiving prize money of 1 million KRW. The Merit Award was given to Senior Researchers Seongcheon Lee of the Makeup Research Institute and Dongmin Kim of the Convergence Research Institute, while the Encouragement Award was presented to Senior Researcher Subin Choi of the Makeup Research Institute and Researcher Eunyoung Hong of the HK Innoen Research Institute.
