Following last year's grand prize awarded to Kwon Tae-eun from the Uljin area for developing secondary processed products of red snow crab, Gyeongsangbuk-do has produced the grand prize winner of the 'New Knowledge Persons in Marine Fisheries' for two consecutive years.
Kim Heonmok, CEO of Kim Myungsoo Jeotgal, who inherited the 50-year family business from his father, was highly praised for popularizing traditional fish sauce by continuously researching and developing manufacturing technology for premium fish sauce with a total nitrogen content of 2.3%.
Kwon Ki-soo, director of the Gyeongbuk Fisheries Technology Center, congratulated CEO Kim on his award, saying, "Although the fisheries industry is facing difficulties due to the decline of marine resources, changes in fishing grounds, and COVID-19, we will make further efforts to enhance the competitiveness of Gyeongbuk fisheries through the discovery and nurturing of new knowledge persons in marine fisheries."
