[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] The daughter of former high-ranking prosecutor Yoon Gap-geun (Chairman of the People Power Party Chungbuk Provincial Party), who was arrested and indicted on charges of soliciting the resale of Lime Asset Management funds, attempted suicide by jumping, suffering serious injuries due to despair over her father's situation.
According to the police on the 4th, at around 5:58 a.m. that day, A (29), the daughter of former high-ranking prosecutor Yoon, jumped from the 7th floor of an apartment in Sangdang-gu, Cheongju-si, Chungbuk.
A was immediately transported to Chungbuk National University Hospital by the 119 emergency medical team, who responded to a suspected jump report at 5:33 a.m. Although the 119 team had set up an air mattress, it was reported that she fell beside the air mattress after hitting a tree and a car hood during the fall.
At the time of the accident, A was alone due to her mother's absence. She is known to have left a suicide note saying, "Please take good care of the remaining family," before attempting the extreme act.
She sustained severe injuries to her head, internal organs, and legs but is currently in a stable condition without life-threatening injuries. After the accident, she received emergency treatment and is reported to have regained consciousness.
The police are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
Earlier, Yoon, A's father and former high-ranking prosecutor, was arrested and indicted on the 24th of last month on charges of violating the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes (solicitation of bribery).
Yoon is accused of receiving approximately 220 million won in July last year from former Lime Vice President Lee Jong-pil and others, along with a request to ask Woori Bank to resell Lime funds after the bank stopped selling the Lime fund last year.
Yoon claimed that the money was a legitimate consulting fee received as a lawyer after signing a legal advisory contract, but the prosecution judged this as a bribe based on seized evidence.
