One New COVID-19 Case Reported in Hwasun... Jeonnam Patient No. 519
[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Young-gyun] Jeonnam Hwasun-gun (Governor Gu Chung-gon) announced on the 23rd that one resident living in Hwasun-eup tested positive for COVID-19 on the 22nd.
The confirmed case (Jeonnam No. 519) underwent diagnostic testing due to coughing symptoms, and the Jeonnam Health and Environment Research Institute confirmed a positive result.
Upon receiving the confirmation, the county immediately completed tracing the confirmed patient's movement and contacts, and conducted disinfection at the residence and visited locations.
The infection route has not been identified so far.
The county collected specimens from 111 people who had contact with the confirmed patient and requested diagnostic tests. So far, 85 close contacts, including family members, tested negative, and the remaining 26 are still being tested.
In Hwasun, a total of 25 confirmed cases have occurred this month, including 15 from nursing hospitals and 10 others.
Governor Gu Chung-gon stated in a press release, "The infection that started through contact with family members of confirmed cases from other regions quickly spread into a group and chain infection in nursing hospitals," and urged, "Please refrain from visiting other regions during the year-end and New Year holidays, and especially cancel all year-end gatherings with family and acquaintances."
