The Dignitas Liberal Arts Education Research Institute operated both online and offline liberal arts education tutoring by utilizing the offline Liberal Arts Education Tutoring Lab and the remote lecture platform Microsoft Teams (MS TEAMS) to support smooth tutoring activities for liberal arts course students.
The liberal arts education tutoring program consisted of a total of 16 sessions from September to November and was conducted as autonomous team activities by students from selecting tutoring topics to the final presentation.
Students actively participated in tutoring activities by performing online and offline team activities, writing tutoring activity logs, and recording team activity videos.
At the final presentation, more than 120 students shared presentation materials prepared by each team through the online video learning system. Through judging, two teams were awarded the grand prize, five teams received the excellence award, and six teams were selected for the merit award.
The winning teams received scholarships and the qualification to present at the ‘2021 Dong-Eui University Dignitas Liberal Arts Education Research Institute International Academic Conference’ in the academic next-generation session.
Fourth-year Electronic Engineering student Ahn Hyo-joo, who won the grand prize with the theme ‘Artificial Intelligence and the Restoration of Humanity,’ said, “It was very beneficial to share opinions and discuss topics related to posthumanism with students from various departments and years. Through tutoring learning, I was able to have a new and interesting learning experience.”
Fifth-year Architecture student Kim Min-ju, who won the grand prize with ‘Advertising, Storytelling Case Analysis and Future Marketing Proposals,’ said, “From topic selection to drawing conclusions, I gained confidence through passionate discussions with members, and tutoring learning was a meaningful time that made me feel that team members were growing.”
Yoon Hye-kyung, director of the Dignitas Liberal Arts Education Research Institute, said, “The liberal arts education tutoring learning conducted this year can be seen as an excellent case of remote lectures as basic liberal arts education and the operation of curriculum-linked extracurricular programs, and it can be evaluated as a meaningful research achievement showing the practical direction of future competency-centered basic liberal arts education.”
Director Yoon added, “Tutoring learning activities using an online video learning system in the liberal arts education field will be an innovative case reflecting the orientation of autonomous-based liberal arts education.”
