Mapo-gu Launches Free Public WiFi Service
Service on Gyeongui Line Forest Park (4.5km), Hongjecheon (1.5km), Bulgwangcheon (2.1km) sections in December... Public Wi-Fi to expand next year to major roads, bus stops, and parks in Mapo-gu
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Soon, free public WiFi services accessible to all citizens are expected to be provided throughout Mapo-gu's Gyeongui Line Forest Park, Hongjecheon, and Bulgwangcheon areas.
Mapo-gu (Mayor Yoo Dong-gyun) announced that it is promoting a public WiFi installation project in the Gyeongui Line Forest Park and throughout Hongjecheon and Bulgwangcheon to guarantee residents' basic communication rights as part of its digital welfare services.
Initially, Mapo-gu launched a self-communication network construction project this year as part of the Seoul Citizen Participatory Budget to provide public WiFi services along Hongjecheon (1.5 km) and Bulgwangcheon (2.1 km).
Subsequently, after consultations with Seoul City to offer free WiFi services to more residents, it was decided at the end of October to include and expand the entire section of Mapo-gu's Gyeongui Line Forest Park (4.5 km) in the service area.
Accordingly, starting in December, free public WiFi services will be provided beginning with the Gyeongui Line Forest Park section (Yeonnam-dong to Saechang Gogae). The Hongjecheon and Bulgwangcheon sections, where installation began earlier this month, are also expected to offer public WiFi services from mid-December, benefiting many residents.
Additionally, next year, Mapo-gu plans to further install public WiFi mainly in locations frequently used by residents such as major roads, bus stops, and parks through the Smart Network (S-Net) project in cooperation with Seoul City.
