Human Rights Commission and University Student Council Hold 'University Human Rights Issues Online Forum'
[Asia Economy Reporter Donghoon Jeong] The National Human Rights Commission of Korea will hold an 'Online Forum on University Human Rights Issues' together with university student self-governing bodies on the 28th.
The forum will be held under the theme "Exploring the Roles and Responsibilities of University Communities for Campuses Safe from Hate and Discrimination." It will be broadcast live on the National Human Rights Commission's YouTube channel.
At the forum, the seriousness of hate and discrimination will be examined through the case of a representative university student online community, A Community. A Community is an application used by about 4.55 million university students from over 400 universities nationwide. It is considered a representative communication tool among university students. With most university lectures conducted online due to the COVID-19 pandemic, dependence on this platform has increased.
There have been continuous concerns that hate and discrimination have become normalized through A Community. Recently, an incident occurred where a user, suffering from bullying comments, took an extreme step.
