The Delivery Workers Overwork Death Countermeasures Committee held a press conference on the morning of the 25th in front of CJ Logistics headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul, stating, "We condemn CJ Logistics' overwork death countermeasures, which are helpless against power abuse."
Earlier, on the 22nd of last month, CEO Park Geun-hee of CJ Logistics apologized for the consecutive overwork deaths of delivery workers and announced recurrence prevention measures such as deploying sorting support personnel and increasing industrial accident insurance enrollment rates.
However, the committee claims that agency owners are trying to shift the burdens arising from these measures onto the delivery workers.
According to the committee, at CJ Logistics Agency A, delivery workers' delivery fees were cut in July to enroll in industrial accident insurance, but enrollment has not yet been completed.
In particular, the reduced fee is 20 won per delivery, amounting to 160,000 won per month, and considering that the industrial accident insurance premium borne by the delivery workers is about 22,000 won, this is explained as wage theft amounting to approximately 140,000 won.
At Agency B, during the peak Chuseok season in September and October, some delivery workers who found it difficult to handle the delivery volume and asked colleagues for help were reportedly dismissed. The affected worker reportedly delivered over 300 packages per day on average and worked over 80 hours per week.

The committee pointed out, "CJ Logistics announced a volume reduction request system in July and a shared excess volume system at the time of the CEO's apology. However, on the ground, due to the power abuse by agency managers, not only are these measures not being implemented, but absurd incidents such as dismissal notices are occurring."
