Gangnam-gu Hosts Kimchi Sharing Event with 'Bokjakbokjak Pink Santa' Together
Organized by Gangnam-gu Volunteer Center, 170 Participants Including Corporate Volunteers... Non-Face-to-Face Delivery to 600 Vulnerable Households
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jeong Soon-gyun) held a kimchi-sharing event for vulnerable groups, "I'm Pink Santa, BokjakBokjak Pink Santa Kimchi Day," on the 13th at Daechung Park in Irwon-dong.
Hosted by the Gangnam-gu Volunteer Center, this "Pink Santa" activity involved 170 volunteer employees from local companies such as Dongkook Pharmaceutical, Ido Gomtang, and KEPCO KDN, as well as local residents. Due to COVID-19, the event was conducted by directly packaging finished products such as 5kg of cabbage kimchi.
The kimchi was delivered in a non-face-to-face manner to 174 households of North Korean defectors living in Irwon and Suseo-dong, as well as 426 vulnerable households including people with disabilities and elderly living alone.
The "Pink Santa" activity, named by combining the color "pink," symbolizing Gangnam-gu volunteerism, and "Santa," symbolizing a warm year-end, is held annually to foster a culture of continuous corporate volunteer participation and to help neighbors in need.
